Yard Time

We have been busy all week working in our yard and haven't taken the time to post on our blog. It is amazing how much there is to do to get one's yard summer ready. I pulled about 6 wheel barrow loads of weeds, Mark fixed all of the sprinklers that our winter lawn mowers broke (horses!) and added drip to all of our potted plants. We also put in 3 more vegetable garden beds. That doesn't seem like it should have taken all week, but one thing always leads to another and we had a lot of minor repairs to do as well. We also planted another rose and a few petunias here and there. The hummingbirds love petunias and they are so easy to grow. Our hummingbird feeder is back hanging and the little flying wonders were zipping over our heads all week as well. One exciting event was the day we drove to town and picked up chicks until our car was full. They were cheap, readily got in our car, and they are going to fill our freezer later. Right now they are all huddled around a heat lamp in our barn. Photos are sure to follow.

  1. I know what you mean about things taking longer than you think. I keep a little journal to make notes about what we are doing and when, and sometimes have only one thing to write. Really - how could it take all day to mow the yard, or move the chickens, or build (another) fence?? I think we are slow.
