New York Times Article

Recently an article about our area appeared in the New York times. It is well written and a bit funny (as well as only slightly skewed; Garberville isn't really a scary place). It has been interesting to read responses from locals. Read it yourself and get a taste of this place we love. In fact the crazy weather he writes of is happening right now, as the rain just gave way to a shining rainbow.

  1. That's funny. I'm looking forward to our trip out there in August, 2012.

So, which are you: "artists, back-to-the-landers, outdoorsfolk, slow-food entrepreneurs and urban refugees who found the Upper Haight too staid?"

  2. That is a really good question Dan. One group he did miss mentioning though are the rednecks. Although I wouldn't consider ourselves rednecks either. LOL.

  3. I thought the writer did a great job describing the environment of our humble Humboldt. Our residents include many, many hard working tax paying citizens that pay for most of the services that our marijuana growing counter-parts do not; ie roads, schools, welfare, medical.

  4. Sometimes you just have to wonder about reporters, don't you.

  5. Don't you think it would be fun to travel to the various wrinkles and outposts, report on them w/photos and your own humor, and get paid for your trouble?

    I do.
